The Kratoscope is an innovative 3D imaging system for whole ex vivo organs developed by Kaer Labs. It enables three-dimensional reconstruction of an organ's internal structure without the need for labelling or contrast agents, thanks to automated image acquisition at each cut made by a microtome or cryostat. The technique is based on serial imaging of the tissue block surface, which makes it possible to visualise anatomical structures with contrast based on tissue autofluorescence, and can also integrate specific fluorescent signals if required. This process is fast, simple and highly adaptable to different types of organs and applications (anatomy, vascular biology, biodistribution of molecules, etc.), while retaining the possibility of recovering sections for conventional histological analysis. |
