InfectioTron

The EquipEx InfectioTron, coordinated by Claude Bernard University Lyon 1, aims to strengthen the Lyon ecosystem in order to implement the 'One Health' concept in the field of emerging infectious diseases.

The InfectioTron project proposes a unique, coordinated network of complementary equipment and platforms, enabling multi-scale and multimodal analysis of infectious events—from their natural environment down to cells and molecular mechanisms—all within high-level biosafety facilities.

This infrastructure will support the development of new research directions to carry out integrative projects within the “One Health” framework, bridging field studies and laboratory investigations. It will significantly strengthen the scientific community in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region around the theme of infectious diseases (human, animal, plant), and will, in effect, provide a unique scientific environment in France.

SFR Biosciences is a partner in this ambitious project, which brings together a total of 10 research units (LBBE, CIRI, IVPC, MMSB, LBTI, IGFL, LEM, RS2GP, MAP, BF2I), 5 academic institutions (Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1, ENS Lyon, VetAgro Sup, INSA, EPHE), and 3 national research organizations (CNRS, INSERM, INRAE).

The EquipEx+ InfectioTron is funded by the French National Research Agency (ANR) under the 2020 ESR-EquipEx+ call for proposals.
